Hi Rachel- Thanks for checking out the site. I find most of my opportunities through New York Cares, as they provide the most extensive list of one-time activities, which enables me to try and write about many different types of projects. I have also used OneBrick and StreetProject. And of course, random opportunities arise through friends and/or family, like the Breast Cancer Walk I recently wrote about. It's just me running this site, but I welcome other volunteers to share their experiences here as well (On the 'Your Experiences' page). I'm always interested in knowing what other opportunities are out there, and how other organizations use their volunteers. If you have any other questions, please don't hesitate to contact me here, or email me at info@giveandgetnyc.com
I looked at the website for the Meals-On-Heels program you mentioned (http://www.burdencenter.org). It looks like a great program! Do you know if those spots fill up quickly, or is it easy to volunteer there?

Hi,
I just found your website. It is great. I am the former volunteer director at the Carter Burden Senior Center where I ran daily lunch and our Meals-On-Heels program. I left to begin school to get my master's in social work. I am still doing volunteer work with seniors and homeless intakes at CCC. I was curious how you got involved and wanted to know more about this website.
Congratulations, it's great.
